"My 5yr old son has "nice" legs. He's not fat, but is pretty tall and not skinny. He had straight leg jeans that he couldn't bend his legs in. Once we got these he was thrilled. I think the ankle end of the pants are a litttle large, but otherwise we like them a lot. As far as durability, we haven't had them long enough to know how the knees are going to hold up."

"I love these jeans. My only complaint is they seem to run long in length. My son is average height, and most size 10 jeans, seem to fit him just about right in length. These ones are a couple of inches too long. It was the same story when he was in size 8's. I still buy them, because I think they're a great value, but that's something to think about if you have a short kid."

"These are our favorite jeans for our rough and tumble boys - love the adjustable waist and they last longer in the knees than any other jeans we have tried! Have bought CP jeans for our kids for the last 10 years. I will be sad when they finally outgrow the store."

"Bought these for my five year old son and the product definitely needed to be washed before wearing because there was some sort of residue on the adjustable waist. It was a crusty white residue. So yes I would recommend but the company says they "pre-wash" them. I don't believe that. Also, my son is very active and loves to roll around and these pants and every other pair that I've bought withstand his ambitiousness to be wild"

"They run very big my son is 5 and needed a size four around the waist but had to settle for a 5 for the length! Even with the belt inside to tighten they were huge! Very cute jeans though!"

"The jeans from here are not meant for children who play, only for children who stay inside and never fall down. The very first time my son wore his new jeans he tripped and fell outside and ripped a hole in the knee. It was not a serious fall, no injuries besides the pants. I normally line the inside of the knees with a jean patch and that helps with how long these jeans last but I didn't have time. I guess thinking that they would be able to last one use without me reinforcing the knees was wrong."

"CP jeans have always been my favorite brand! They fit so well and are great quality, especially for the price. "My grandson wears a size 7 in all other brand jeans, but with these carpenter jeans, I had to order the next size DOWN [size 6], and the jeans still fit bigger than other carpenter jeans, especially through the seat and thigh areas. My grandson is not a 'slim' size, and wears other 'brand' carpenter jeans in a normal size 7. Children's Place clothes are reasonable in price, durabile, style, & color, but would recommend ordering a size DOWN in carpenter jeans for a more proper fit."

"Be warned these jeans run BIG! My son wears other children's place pant in size 5 so I also purchased these in size 5. The waist was a couple inches larger and the length was 4 inches longer than other children's place size 5 pants! I had to exchange for a size 4. Save yourself some time and buy a size smaller."

What did you do TCP?

"I have been buying my 2 older children's clothes almost exclusively at TCP (online & BTW... there are MUCH better sales here that there are in store) since 2008. In '08 I bought my son the carpenter pants in size 4 and then in '09 and '10 I bought them in size 5. I have LOVED all of them EXCEPT for these carbon wash one's and I dont understand what went wrong...
My son is NOT hard on his clothes AT ALL but yet the news blew out on these carbon wash one's within 2 months of buying them! He has the same routine day in and day out but yet his other carpenter pants from TCP have held up JUST FINE, including the one's he's been wearing for over a year and a half!
I LOVED the look of these pants (actually, I bought them in store lol) so I bought 4 pairs of the carbon wash ones and I COMPLETELY regret that purchase! I should have stuck to a different shade of denim because then my son wouldnt have holes in all of the knees!
The benefit is that I was able to cut them just above the rip on the leg, hem them and now he has summer shorts that (fortunately) are long enough that he doesnt look like he's wearing daisy dukes!"
